When a debtor talks to a maintenance enforcement person (an “enforcer”) about payments, the enforcer will not necessarily be honest and forthcoming with the debtor. Enforcers have many games that they play that are aimed at enhancing their feeling of power, extracting more money (sometimes more than they are legally allowed to collect) and at making the debtor feel powerless. Watch out before year end – there is a big push to meet annual targets!
